Mainly oil paintings of Chichester harbour and city. Some still life too.
Stephen's paintings demonstrate his respect for the traditional skills of drawing and composition which he learnt from his father, John, and his grandfather, Maurice, also professional artists. At the same time, the works contain his own freshness and originality and are often inspired by local sea and harbour scenes.
Stephen has had many exhibitions in London and Chichester. He paints still lives, flowers, portraits and landscapes. His print, 'Cloudy Afternoon, East Head' continues to be a best seller at the Oxmarket Print Shop.
Along with painting, Stephen enjoys researching old paintings. For several years, he was a Partner in Art in the Pallant House Community Programme.
