Drawings and cut-outs of figurative work including a new installation.
All the recent work is strongly figurative. During the past year this has included extensive drawing which has been translated into ‘cut-outs’ in wood and acrylic. The new work includes studies of familiar, often local, architecture manipulated by adding and subtracting elements. The work has been made with the intention of creating an installation by grouping individual pieces including figures (the sisters set) and buildings (the Market Cross quartet). Much of the work includes different characters and creatures based on literature, art and or religion. Often the work is ambiguous and speaks of playfulness, pessimism and joy.
