Personal Statement

I make delicate jewellery and small-scale three-dimensional objects working with thread, fabric, paper, resin and metal. I trained as a jeweller and then in textiles, and am interested in creating work that crosses disciplines and sits on the edge of textiles, jewellery and sculpture. I use self-generated techniques with thread, and various metal working techniques, and play with the perception of scale by creating a sense of the monumental in the miniscule. Working on a small scale requires a concentration of form, process and concept. The process of making, the time and concentration required to produce work of this scale, is an important part in the development of my ideas, and with all my work I encourage the viewer to stop, pause, lean in, look, and experience the moment and the object in total.I have had an established practice as a jeweller for many years, exhibiting my work worldwide. Recent exhibitions of both jewellery and textile art have been in Italy, Portugal, China, Ukraine and the USA, as well as London, Salisbury, Farnham and Arundel.
