Large acrylic floral paintings, mixed media, acrylic on vintage sheet music.
I have always loved art and after studying fine art at college in the late 1970 it was always just a hobby. I joined Middleton Art Group two years ago and found a new enjoyment of painting and found the confidence to exhibit my work with the group in Arundel. I get a lot of my inspiration from my somewhat wild cottage garden, using mostly acrylics to attempt to imitate the bright colours found throughout the seasons. Rather than botanical paintings i prefer to exaggerate the details of the flowers and paint them larger than life. My favourites being roses. frilly tulips. irises and orchids, I love gloss, iridescent paints and sparkle and find glitter hard to resist. Recently I have been experimenting with painting on original vintage sheet music. Trying to match my subject with the title of the music. Who knew Tchaikovsky has so many pieces of music with a floral theme.
