Personal Statement

Although specialising in portraiture, Sue Martin has illustrated books and produced artwork for CD covers and advertising. She is best known for her detailed coloured pencil drawings, but also loves to work in oils and watercolours. She is a keen wildlife photographer, which has inspired recent work. Some of Sue's paintings and drawings have been published as limited edition prints by UK renowned Cambrooke Fine Art Publishers Ltd. that have sold internationally. Her work was used in promotional publications by quality artist material manufacturers Caran d'Ache (Swiss) and for advertisements and packaging for the UK's Derwent range of art products. She was employed by Caran d'Ache to demonstrate their art materials to Art Societies throughout the South East. Sue became an Associate Lecturer and Specialist Drawing Tutor at Chichester College and from 1998 - 2002 was one of the principal tutors on the pre-degree BTEC Foundation Course. She also ran the GCSE Art Course and City & Guilds Life Drawing Qualification. Personal circumstances and a career change within the Arts led Sue to take a 14-year break from painting and drawing, but in 2016 she decided it was time to get back to her drawing board and easel.
