Personal Statement

Gaynor exhibits widely in the UK and abroad and is preparing for her next RHS exhibit on vellum for 2021. Her work receives widespread accolades and is in UK and international art collections; in the UK these include the Cedric Morris Florilegium and Chelsea Physic Garden in London.

Her paintings, in graphite, coloured pencil, watercolour or pen and ink show unusual detail. She regularly uses a microscope to see elements she feels necessary to bring to the viewer’s attention.

Gaynor is the founding President of the Association of British Botanical Artists (ABBA), bringing botanical art to everyone, everywhere. And, with the increasing interest in nature conservation, her focus on our plants keeps her busy with teaching students at home and around the globe.

Gaynor’s philosophy is that drawing is not an innate ability, but the result of ‘wanting to draw’. If you want to do it, you will put the effort into achieving it.

In addition to teaching, Gaynor accepts commissions, sells original artwork, limited edition prints and cards.

Her students tell her that after her classes, workshops or online course, they look at everything in nature with different eyes; seeing amazing new details.
