Printmaking - Handprinted linocut, wood engraving, intaglio and screenprint - inspired by nature and folk-art
I'm an artist and printmaker living in sunny Chichester, West Sussex. Many of my designs are inspired by countryside walks, insects, pattern and folktales. I studied Fine Art at Chichester University and this led me to develop my love of Japanese patterns and style. I use these patterns within my work, to create intricate designs and illustrations. My hand drawn sketches are made into relief prints, screen prints and Japanese woodblock prints. I mainly work in Lino creating relief prints on my @woodzillapress, and recently I have been creating wood engravings using engraving tools, which have cool names such as 'spitstickers' and 'squarescorpers'. I hand burnish the print which has been cut into small pieces of boxwood and lemonwood. I'm a self taught screen-printer, making and processing my own screens in my garden studio. I love to print these designs onto fabric and paper. The hand-pulled process is really exciting, the best bit is when you lift the screen and peak underneath to see the results!
