The Cameleers of Pushkar
Ali is well known for her perceptive fine art portraits of humans and animals in monochrome. Her recent portfolio includes a photo essay of the Cameleers of Pushkar Fair, Rajasthan. These sensitive images are a photo essay on the Rabari tribespeople, and reflect the changing character of Rajasthan's most famous mela. The images raise difficult questions about traditional lifestyles and the role of photography in the 21st century drawing on recent experiences of Ali & her fellow travellers. India is where Ali runs her winter photography holidays and Bosham is home, the seascape for summer photography workshops and commissioned portraiture.
