Garden Sculpture, curvaceous, contemporary sculpture crafted from metal and stainless steel in a garden setting. Great views of the Downs plus tea and cake.
Born in Yorkshire I studied graphics and photography at Sheffield Polytechnic, moving to the south coast in the 90’s, working for many years as a designer and commercial photographer. Using illustrative techniques learnt during my time as a designer, I designed sculptural concepts purely for pleasure, wanting something to enhance our own garden. It was one of my design clients form the art world that recently encouraged me to pursue my ideas, turning concepts into reality. Pieces are curvaceous, charmingly simple, almost two dimensional, which probably reflects my training as a graphic designer and my belief in the “less is more” approach. Crafted from sheet steel, pieces are left to oxidise naturally, a process that highlights the intrinsic beauty of the material as the finish evolves with time. Currently I’m working on a range of new pieces which are a little more abstract, still very graphical and based on my passion for long flowing curves.
Hopefully by the summer we will be though the worst and life will gradually be returning to normal.
Although I make a special effort for the Art Trail I do always have a range of my work on display and you would be welcome to come and have a look. If you could drop me a note or give me a ring first just to make sure I’m about that would be great.
In the meantime I am going to spend the quieter times working on some new designs and would be more than happy to work with you if you have your own ideas for a more bespoke sculpture. Please do drop me an email firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a ring 0750 121 3800
