Personal Statement

I have always had a passion for art and being able to express creatively my love of nature combined with my inspirations and feelings. I studied art as a major component of my teaching degree (B.ED Art Honours) and from a traditional painting style began to create more abstract acrylic and mixed media works. I have in recent years also rediscovered a love of silk painting and enjoy the freedom this medium allows as works evolve through the paints reaction to the silk. I also enjoy creating rag rug art works as I love the tactile aspect of these creations. The process of art, the creativity and expression, has been instrumental in my art career as it is my love of sharing and encouraging this which has inspired me to plan and deliver may varied art workshops, classes, tutoring sessions and 'pop-up' art experiences to children and adults. Several of my paintings have been included in the Stride Open Art exhibitions over the years. Acrylics, mixed media and silk paint are my favourite mediums of expression and my artwork collection encapsulates my feelings, inspirations and persistent desire to create.
