Personal Statement

I am a self-taught watercolour artist who enjoys sketching and painting the flowers grown in my garden. I especially appreciate flowers with bold colours, an abundance of petals and heady perfume; these include Roses, Dahlias, Peonies and Sunflowers. I use many of my sketches to create designs for painting on a range of glassware. This involves utilising specialist glass paints to create individual hand-painted vases and mirrors.
I hand-spin fleece from a range of locally sourced Alpacas and rare breed British sheep; for example, the Portland, Bluefaced Leicester, and Whitefaced Woodland. In addition, I hand dye many of my yarns, as well as other natural fibres; for example, mohair and silk, to create a wide range of hand-knitted shawls, scarves and accessories. I also design and create a variety of individual tactile fabric rugs.
I have my own purpose-built workshop where I frame all my art work using professional framing equipment, including a Morso Guillotine. I am happy to undertake commissions for all aspects of my work.
Previously, I exhibited regularly in the Brighton Open House Trails and continue to participate in the Chichester Art Trail Open Studios. My website displays examples of my work.
