Jan makes mixed media pieces using ceramics, stone & driftwood. See new ideas expressed in garden sculpture, wall hung and shelf sitting work inspired by Chichester Harbour.
Jan Guest lives and works in Bosham, on Chichester Harbour. Her work is inspired by the local coastline, its history, sea defences, sailing and fishing community and the effects of time, tide and weather.
I construct free standing totems, pictures and hangings by sorting, working and assembling found elements and beach combings. I then use handmade ceramic components to communicate the theme, whilst trying to evoke a sense of calm through material selection and colour.
Recent themes studied include Harbours at high and low tide, Gardens with a sea view, Working Jetties, Lost skills and Rockpools.
Work may be viewed all year round at the Bosham studio by appointment, or at one of my regular exhibitions/ events which can be found at www.janguest.co.uk
Jan will be holding small workshops during 2017 please see website details or request a newsletter.
