Metal Sculpture for the garden. Architectural metal pods. Copper and Aluminium birds, fish and dragonflies for boarders and ponds.
Mike Savage studied silversmithing at Camberwell School of Art and developed his sculptural work at the Royal College of Art in the late 1980's. His work is represented in the Crafts Council Collection, and numerous private collections, both here and abroad. Mike makes metal patinated Birds, Fish and Lilies for the garden and interiors. The pots and birdbaths exploit the sculptural forms and the complex shapes and structures of organic segmentation in plants and seeds. The intrigue of the natural form is developed by an interest in industrial and engineered objects. The work and processes exploits the malleable qualities of copper and aluminium. The hammering and the conducted heat of welding create a patina of colour and texture to the metal, this is sometimes enhanced by chemical patination, wax is applied to protect and enrich the surface.
