My name is Eleanor and I was born in Ayrshire, Scotland and grew up by the sea in East Anglia. Later I moved to the South Coast to study Languages at Portsmouth and then Photography in Southampton. My love of photography initially grew from the magic of its timelessness, which dawned on me from an early age. The capture of unforgettable people and places helps me to navigate my journey through life. Photography gradually became more and more a form of communication and sharing. I am passionate about history and what it can teach us. For the past few years, I've been photographing many of the events at Butser Ancient Farm a centre of education and experimental archeology where I volunteer. In my spare time, I like to linger among ancient monuments; those peaceful and evocative places where nature and the changing light embellish form and texture. I'll never tire of the haunts of ancient past in Sussex and Hampshire, such as Netley Abbey, Pevensey Castle and Racton Monument. Sources of inspiration are the South Downs landscape, the poetry of Dylan Thomas and the photography of Simon Marsden.
