Hand-spun British wool & Alpaca, Hand-dyed yarns, hand-knitted lace shawls, scarves and mittens. Fabric rugs.
I love to knit hand-spun wool because its perfect for knitting jumpers, scarves, mittens and gloves. The wool has so much bounce and is easy to dye. I spin locally-sourced Alpaca fleece, and wool from different British sheep breeds. These include Bluefaced Leicester, Hebridean, Shetland and rare-breed sheep such as Portland and Whitefaced Woodland. I hand-dye lace-weight mohair and silk, design my own knitting patterns, hand-knit individual shawls and scarves, and create unique tactile fabric rugs. I am currently spinning wool from a Shetland sheep fleece, Suri Alpaca tops and designing mitten patterns utilising Japanese knitting stitches. When I am not spinning or knitting, I enjoy painting the beautiful Roses, Dahlias and Peonies growing in my garden. At present I am sketching Sunflowers and Orchid Daffodils to use for my watercolour paintings. In addition, I hand-paint on glassware including vases and mirrors using specialist glass paints. I have my own purpose-built workshop to frame my work using professional equipment including a Morso Guillotine, Underpinner and Mountcutter. I regularly attend local spinning groups and craft fayres. Details of these can be found on my website. I am happy to undertake commissions for all aspects of my work.
