Personal Statement

Lou works from her studio in Fishbourne, near Chichester to create figurative pieces from 60mm in height (in hallmarked silver, bronze and lead) to 3m tall – in bronze or aluminium resin. Lou's original inspiration came from Giacometti, Rodin, Moore and Lehmbruck and natural forms when she explored the frailty yet strength of the human form and the character that could be evoked by small inflections and movement. Monument or companion, she celebrates the resonance that her work creates within its surroundings whether on an open sweeping lawn or a personal corner. Being slim, the figures fit with ease into any space. B Ed Hons. in Art and Education at University of Sussex (Bishop Otter) in the 70s under Alan Saunders and Glynis Beecroft.
