Personal Statement
After many years practising art on a recreational level in the form of creative embroidery, life drawing and various painting and drawing workshops, I took a Fine Art Degree as a mature student at Hertfordshire University. During this time I became very interested in not only painting but also printmaking. After completing my degree, I went on to do a Post Graduate course in Printmaking at West Herts College. I have subsequently exhibited at diverse galleries which include the Bankside Gallery, London, Waterloo Gallery, London, Marcilhac-sur-Cele, France and the Menier Gallery, London. I have shown with the Printmakers Council and National Society of Painters, Sculptors and Printmakers. I regard my art as a continual learning curve and am always keen to investigate new techniques. I produce linocuts, collagraphs, etchings, carborundum, monoprints and combinations of these. When painting I use acrylics and mixed media. I am inspired by the natural world around me and my work reflects my particular interest in colour and surface texture. When printing there is quite often an element of serendipity which adds to the excitement of the process. I moved to the West Sussex area in 2018 and have since had our garage converted into a studio from which I print and paint.
