Personal Statement
In 1972 I trained as an art teacher at Goldsmiths'. After years teaching in junior and secondary schools and art college, I developed a course for adults who'd not drawn since childhood. Then I illustrated gardening, cookery and natural history books, later packaging for Crabtree & Evelyn, Boots & Waitrose and finally designed merchandise for The National Trust. Lastly for 7 years I ran a successful greeting card & kitchenware business while studying egg tempera and oil painting techniques at City Lit. During lockdown I completed many commissions and started a series of paintings celebrating allotments in Chichester and Lavant.
