Personal Statement

While living in Hertfordshire in the 1970s, Camilla undertook a four-year course at the St Albans School of Art, in drawing, painting, print-making and sculpture, and, moving to London in 1975, attended the Putney School of Art. She exhibited at the Mall Galleries with the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and with the Armed Forces Art Society. Also at the Hurlingham Gallery, with the Chelsea Art Society, at the Anna Mei Chadwick Gallery and at Fulham Library, as well as holding occasional ‘one man’ shows at Fulham Palace. As a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Painters and Stainers, Camilla regularly shows her work at Painters’ Hall in the City. When staying at a cottage she owned for a time in St Ives, Cornwall, she exhibited in the town’s Penwith Gallery. Locally, she has held a ‘one man’ show in the John Rank Oxmarket Gallery in Chichester. Her sculpture work has included fulfilment of portrait commissions, achieving two distinct sculpture portraits of Sir Winston Churchill. Prizes for her work in oils, watercolours, and sculpture, have included an Angela Stones prize for a watercolour at a Chelsea Art Society exhibition, and a sculpture prize at Chichester’s Oxmarket Gallery.
