Mainly oil paintings of Chichester Harbour and city. Some drawings and prints too.
Stephen’s paintings demonstrate his respect for the traditional skills of drawing and composition which he learnt from his father, John, and his grandfather, Maurice, also professional artists. At the same time, the works contain their own freshness and originality and are often inspired by local sea and harbour scenes. Stephen has had many exhibitions in London and Chichester. He paints still lives, flowers, portraits and landscapes. His print, ‘Cloudy Afternoon, East Head’ continues to be a best seller at the Oxmarket Print Shop. Recently one of his paintings was selected for the Discerning Eye, Mall Galleries. Along with painting, Stephen enjoys researching old paintings. He was a Partner in Art in the Community Programme at Pallant House for several years.
