Mixed media mosaics on slate using ceramics, glass and found objects. Ceramic flowers and fish on rods and carved silver jewellery.
I have been a practising maker since finishing a ceramics degree in the 80s and I spent 20 years selling my work in trade shows and contemporary craft fairs all over the country. After moving to Chichester 14 years ago I have developed my work more and set up Chichester Clay and Mosaics.
My work has always been nature based, the amazing shapes and forms nature gives us are a constant inspiration to me all year round. I enjoy combining ceramics and Mosaics together to create unusual and vibrant artwork on slate for home and garden. I like to see colour in the garden all year round so I combine cut glass in vibrant colours with ceramics and found objects.
My new work also involves ceramic birds, flowers and fish on rods, also for home and garden.
I also have a range of silver jewellery with fish and bird themes. I carve the pieces originally so they have a chunky and weighty feel to them, then put my shapes together to create a range of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
I studied art teaching at Goldsmiths college and after teaching around London for a few years I have gone onto create my teaching business ‘Chichester Clay and Mosaics’ which I run from my studio.
