Mostly abstract landscapes in gouache or oil of the local landscape.
Having qualified and practised as an Architect, I later moved on to teaching Art in a large secondary school. I now indulge my love of painting.
Working mostly in abstract landscape of varying sizes, I enjoy using gouache en plain air and oils back in my studio.
I have taken inspiration from the countryside whilst touring Spain, France, Italy and Scotland, but more recently my new home in The South Downs National Park.
I am concerned with spontaneity, composition, light, colour and the plasticity of layering paint and continually strive to capture the essence of a particular moment and place by obliteration of representation.
